There are lots of “Pinterest” ideas that are fun making, and sound and look amazing but don’t work.
This pallet project was so much fun to make. However the end result was nothing nice. We attached it to the drip system, however even with adequate sun this pretty work of art became obsolete. All the water drained out of the bottom, flooding the ground beneath.
While the grass grew, the plants died.
Another “Pinterest” project:
The strawberries, thyme and marigolds started out looking beautiful, but this balanced pot idea eventually collapsed, despite being tied to the block wall. They looked amazing but, produced few strawberries and ended up not being able to survive once the pots fell.
Random gardening fail: this Butternut Squash plant exploded to 6 ft tall and almost 20 feet wide!
And produced these veggies, and more!
We ran into a huge problem, and these guys killed the entire garden….
To get rid of all the squash bugs, and all the other nuisances in our old garden, we removed it completely and began to design and build a key garden. With the help of our friend “Big Jon,” we were able to design and build a new gate, map out the dimensions of the key garden, and successfully build a new garden with a compost in the middle.
You never know what is going to happen, why your “mistakes” and “failures” occur. Though through those mishaps, you may find they reinvent themselves as a new dream.
Check back to see the key garden’s progress each week!
